Poultry Slaughter | Workshop

Join us for a learning experience at our first Poultry Slaughter Class! 

Are you ready to learn about poultry processing? This unique opportunity offers participants valuable skills that will resonate throughout their lives. Throughout the course, you will gain expertise in various aspects of chicken processing, including: 

• Proper Dispatching Techniques*
• Plucking
• Evisceration
• Finishing Touches
• Methods for Bagging and Labeling

At the end of the workshop, participants will acquire valuable knowledge and leave with two whole birds and Helvetia Farm Market Spice Rub!

*It's important to note that this course involves intimate encounters with the realities of life and death. While participants are encouraged to engage in dispatching their birds, it's not mandatory. For this reason, the participant age limit is 16 and up.*

Beyond the new skills acquired, this class builds a deeper understanding of homesteading practices and the ability to save costs by processing poultry independently. You'll have the privilege of learning from our trained staff and gaining access to their years of experience and invaluable tips and tricks.

Workshop Expectations:

• Be prepared for prolonged standing
• Handling of blood, organs, and water
• 2-2.5 hours of learning
• Wet and dirty conditions**
• Light refreshments will be provided

**Please wear attire that can withstand dirt and moisture. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes suitable for wet conditions and be prepared to wear hair nets (hats may be worn over them). Long sleeves should be able to be rolled up, and open-toed shoes are not permitted. Personal belongings should be left in vehicles.**
